When I saw it early in the show I asked them what they want for it as all the items they had for sale did not have any price tags on them and was told "What are you willing to pay"......

I did not make an offer as if they did not know what they wanted it must not have been important.......

David,
I also note ADM171 suggests that this particular and very pleasing "gem" was touched by the hand of the sovereign himself on the 4th of November 1903, very nice indeed, you must be absolutely delighted, I certainly would be.
Regards Frank

(I dare say Alice Keppel was being entertained elsewhere on that particular day in 1903? :) )

Morning Frank,

Yes, I saw his medal had been presented by the King and that certainly adds to the attraction of the medal.

I don't recall seeing any pictures from that ceremony so will look for these.

Best wishes
David

Hello David,
I think it is always good to be able to actually find something at any fair, it is certainly getting much harder than it used be, although, of course, the prices now being sought by so many really do not help matters, I'm not a Naval collector, but, these medals are important and rather scarce, without these particular recipients and their crews, the War Office would not have been able to fight the war in the first place.
The additional naming certainly does add a great deal to these medals and I like the reverse, in particular, the almost three dimensional ships bow.
Regards Frank
