Elmarie - Hello, A very interesting post here. Makes me want to ask if there is any mention of Civil Surgeon William T. Milton ? Refer to my post Who and Where is William Milton ? By any chance is he mentioned in the material.

That is a spectacular series of posts! A summary of everything one ever wanted to know about British medical care during the Boer War! I presume it is a display in your museum? Is it available in published form?
I will soon be going back to my own small Boer War medical collection when I write up the story of a civilian doctor who served in Natal.

Many thanks, Elmarie. I now have something to look forward to, and to inspire me to get my Civilian Doctor project off the ground!

Brett

PS I do not know how I can control the urge to visit your Museum.

There were five Civil Surgeons of Bombay Command in South Africa who were awarded the QSA.
Dr. U. L. Desai (Cape Colony Clasp)
Dr. S. B. Jatha (Natal Clasp)
Dr. B. S. Moonje (Natal Clasp)
Dr. K. M. Pardhy (Natal and Transvaal Clasps) (Left SA for London)
Dr. Shripat Govind Ranaday (Cape Colony Clasp) (His medal is in the Indian Contingent thread)

(If any information on Ranaday can be found I'd be most appreciative!)
