Another couple of pics as above. A close look at the lads of the Ladysmith TG appear to show some Martinis in hand. Can't tell if MH, MM or ME.
Nesbitts lads are holding both Magazine Lee Enfield rifles and (probably) Lee Metford carbines.
Regards to all
IL.

Superb and very good photographs indeed, I particularly like the second, I think I made my thoughts on Nesbitt's Horse very clear to you recently, good old Randolph, quite a character, certainly an ardent imperialist and very much the typical empire builder, from memory, he had originally cut his teeth with the Cape Mounted Rifles straight after leaving school, that time was well spent.

With regards to the second picture Nesbitt's Horse could the black armbands be for Queen Victoria??????

Yes, I agree. Queen Victoria died on 22/1/1901 and the occasional black arm band can be seen in pics of the period.

IL,

Great photos, thanks for sharing.

I have a QSA to the Ladysmith TG so the photo will be a welcome addition to the file on the recipient even though he may not be in the photo.

Cheers,

Jim

Jim,
Thanks for your reply. The weakness of the Creswicke series of pics is that (mostly) only the officers are named. Nevertheless, most of the pics are not readily available elsewhere. So, a worthwhile exercise.

IL.
