Yes I only thought of it yesterday while looking through my British buttons.
I have seen the cards at fairs as you mention but my interest was with other things, I will look out at the next fair I visit.

Other than the pre-existing units, do you know if any buttons were manufactured for the new SA units in the Boer War?

Hello Paul,
Most of these buttons were made in Great Britain and the world really is your oyster when it comes to buttons for the Boer War, don't forget the units and corps raised here for the war, here is the City Imperial Volunteers.
