The month of erection appears to have been erased; perhaps because there was a delay?

A superb memorial, I sometimes question the wisdom of putting them high on church walls, so often they cannot be read, that is certainly the case in Manchester Cathedral and so many others.

Agreed but I wouldn't want them low enough to be touched. If this one was within touching distance some of the names might have been erased by now.

I've been in a couple of regimental chapels where some of the 19th century plaques are unreadable, because they're so high up and can't be cleaned regularly.

Good Afternoon Every One......

Bolton (Eagley Mills and Bromley Cross) happens to be the home stomping grounds of my Step-Father and have visited family there many times.......

I know that three members of the family served in South Africa and I guess that we were lucky that none of them are listed on the memorial.....

Love your photos and write-ups Berenice.......

Berenice,

I agree with all the positive comments above, not least because I've discovered the hard way how difficult it is to get good photos of plaques and memorials in churches. More importantly, I do read the names on the memorials so, at least for a while, these men are remembered.

Thanks

Patrick
