In the Church of the Holy Cross, Scopwick, Lincolnshire.


In loving memory of
ARTHUR WILLIAM HALL F.R.S.C.E
D.
of Durban, Natal.
Second son of the Vicar of this Parish,
Born 26
th May 1861 Died 20 th March 1900.
For some years Surgeon to the Durban Light Inft
ry
He died of enteric fever while on active service during the Boer War.
His body lies in the Churchyard of Mooi River.

It was Brett who told me it was there, I just went and photographed it. Looks like it's been over-zealously cleaned through the years, I assume that's what the markings on the plaque have been caused by.

My write-up on Dr Hall is probably too long to put on this forum, but below are his medals, one military and the other a prize from St Mungo's College in Glasgow. They are perhaps the only surviving relics of his life.
