Thank you so much for great photos of site and war memorial to the British soldiers who died at Nooitgedacht. My Great Grandfather died on the side of the Boers. Do you know how many Boers died there?

Hall-Green,

I cannot find any mention of Constantinus Johannes Fauconnier. There are a few Fauconniers in The Times regarding activities in France in the 1900s but I have found nothing related to the Boer War.

No Boer of this name was captured nor did anyone with this surname apply for their ABO.

Shown here are pages from Wulfsohn's book. The first shows the two Boer monuments. Fauconnier's name is on the left in line 7 of the list of names. The second is Wulfsohn's summary of the number of casualties at Nooitgedacht.

The book includes a list of the Boers from Rustenberg who were killed in action or who died while on commando. Fauconnier's names is not on the list, so presumably he was not from Rustenberg.

I had to reduce the size of the first scan shown above in order to post it, so I have gone back to the original scan and copied only the monument with the list of names.
