Hi my name is Paul Morris, I live in North East of England. I have always had an interest in The Anglo Boer War but more so since starting a little research into the family tree. i believe that my Great uncle John William Bowe served during the war. I do not know which regiment as yet but from family oral history he used to say regularly " If the Boers couldn't get me then the bloody Germans wont!"Unfortunately he was killed in an air raid in 1942 when Middlesbrough railway station was bombed.I,m sure he would have smiled at the irony.

cheers.

There is a John William Bowe born 1879 in Durham who served with the 3rd Batt Kings Royal Rifle Corps in the Boer War with no. 2407 earning the QSA medal with Transvaal clasp

There are 4 pages of his service file on Ancestry including WWI service if you want to know more.

Regards

Rory
