As I said originally, he did not look old enough, nor, I have to say does he look over one hundred years old in the photograph either!

If he was born in 1838 he would have been 102 years old when the Veterans Guard was founded in 1940......

Thanks for spotting my Typo error! He was actually 1891-1950, making him 49 in 1940, and 8 when the ABW started.
Incidentally, were his jodpurs standard uniform for the Veterans Guard?

He is not wearing jodhpurs in the photo at least what I can see..... Uniforms were issued to the VGC after regular military units and in some cases member still wore old WW1 uniforms till they got issued the correct one......
