My grandfather was awarded QSA Medals - and has 2 clasp 1901 and 1902

Would these medals have been issued for BSAP? He served in BSAP from July 1901 - Dec 1904 after buying himself out (I have a copy of the document to say how long he served)

He served in Mashonaland

I always thought he was in the military in SA - then joined the BSAP as a clerk - according to the medal docs he is listed as a trooper - could it be he was a clerk and not a horseback trooper as I understood?

He was also in 5/6th Scottish Rifles WW1 until 1917 when he was gassed and then he transferred to RFC then RAF

Would love to find out more information about BSAP service if anyone can help

thanks

Hello Scottie.......

Welcome to the forum.......

Check out this page..... www.angloboerwar.com/unit-information/so...-south-africa-police

There were 269 Medals issued to the BSAP with only the dated bars......

By the way can you provide us with your GF's full name if you have it.......

Hello Scottie,

Happy New Year.

I served in that fine Force -the BSAP- for close to 18 years. If you are prepared to share your dad's full names and approximate years of service with the Force I should be able to confirm his service. Should QSAMIKE beat me to it . All the best.

David.

His name was John Meldrum - apparently served in Mashonaland - according to the record attached he was a trooper - he later stated he was a clerk

Date of birth 1881 Grantown on Spey but often gave it as 1884 which was actually his brother's year of birth

Hope you can view the attachments

If there are any records available available I would be grateful

Served 1901/1902 Boer War but returned to UK 1904
