I suggest you download WO100/232 from the National Archives : you will then have Wilkiie's page plus everything to do with the "Ophir" issues

Whoops sorry, should have mentioned that. It was published in the Weekly Press of 15 August 1900. The Weekly Press was the pictorial supplement to the Christchurch Press newspaper.

I hadn't see the Kennington medal before, so thanks very much for posting. I have the 3rd NZMR QSA to Henry Vaughan Duigan, who escaped capture at Witpoort Pass by legging it down the hill and jumping on his horse. Copped a bullet through his helmet, but got away alright. I was fascinated by the write-up in Schikkerling's book of the Boer attack - amazing to have first-hand accounts from both sides of the argument. Duigan's father happened to be the editor of a local newspaper, so published most of his sons letters - thank god he did!
