A splendid group, some of the naming looks interesting especially the last medal in the stack, is that the Natal LSGC?

The QSA should have SA01 not Natal according to the rolls. His papers on FmP confirm the LSGC, anyone have a copy of McInnes to confirm the MSM?

Meurig

I have Hattrill on the main NP roll as entitled to the Natal clasp, and on the later supplementary roll as entitled to SA '01. Because he was in the NP throughout the ABW he could not have received only the SA '01 clasp.

Hattrill enlisted as Trooper 1088 in the Natal Mounted Police on 31/7/1889, and he was absorbed into the newly established Natal Police in 1894. I do not have a copy of the relevant page in the Enlistment Register, but the Natal LS&GC roll has him as having served for 19 years and 349 days up to the time of its award. It makes no mention of his earlier service in the British army as it does in other cases, probably because he did not need to add that period to qualify for the medal.

Regards
Brett

Thanks for the clarification Brett - another example not to trust the Ancestry index.
