Munroe,

I am going to have to log off. These are too much!

I think I have only seen on AM/QSA combination before. It was on the cover of a Christies/Glendining catalogue in a group with a DSO. Your example is fabulous!

The Albert Medal pair is outstanding. I presume that's Chieveley as in Churchill Armoured Train incident?

Best,

Justin

Dear Justin

Yes - its the Churchill event. There is a story with this group that I must one day tell, but Stewarts family said that he was driving the engine on that day and not the driver as he had been concussed. And they picked the driver up when they had got clear. But the driver got the gold AM. Stewart was bitter about this. But put these medals away in the box and went on his daily life. He was proud that when Churchill escaped he came to Natal and saw him - saying I would like to shake the hand of the man who saved the day.

Munroe,

Thanks. Both groups are very interesting - you'll have to write the stories up!

Best wishes,

Justin

The award of the Albert Medal had to wait for more than a decade. Here is the text from the London Gazette of 14 Jun 1910:
