Hi Rory
My mistake: Charles and Kenneth were too young (born 1890 and 1893). Kenneth served and died in WW1 (not the Boer War). I am not sure whether Charles fought in WW1.

I have a photo of John Schreiber Moffett in what could be a reunion of the South African Constabulary - it may be of help to others with links to South African Constabulary (see attached). John Schreiber Moffett (affectionately "Jack") is first left.

I am not sure of the Mills connection - it could be, my information is sketchy. Is there any chance of connecting me with Winston Moffett? Thank you.

Hi Zeme

There does not appear to be an attachment. Please could you resubmit.

I am not sure if you are aware of this but KWW Moffett (Kenneth William Wendy?) dies in service on 21 October 1918 and is buried in Pretoria. He was a Driver with the South African Service Corps in Probably East Africa before that. He will have a comprehensive file and service card which provides a lot of information in the SANDF Archives in Pretoria.

If you send me a Private Message I will respond with Winston's details.

Is there a chance that you may have a photo of GH Moffett?

Regards

Rory

I am nudging this topic up to the top because, and I'm sure he won't mind my saying so, I was contacted by a family member to GH Moffett who very kindly provided me with a couple of photos which I have now added to my post.

I don't know about the rest of you but I always find it riveting to see what the person looked like who wore the medals.

Regards

Rory

Rory,

I'm with you on that. It adds another dimension to see what these people looked like and it is so rare to find photos.

Thanks to a relative of Moffett's who kindly sourced a photo for me - I am able to provide an image of what Moffett looked like in uniform circa the time he was with the Cape Police.

The generosity of strangers never ceases to amaze me and I am eternally grateful that there are those who bother to read what we print.

The photo is attached. Moffett is in the rear in the middle - you can see his Corporal's stripes quite clearly.

Regards

Rory
