Hi Mike,

Thanks for checking and the info. There is some info on the photo that is handwritten:
"Badge of Gallantry-men of the 19 troop of S.A.C."
"C. Ryall, W.H. Gibbons, H. Falkentine, D. Muir, C. Young"

They are wearing their uniforms but, not the metal badges. They are all wearing the cloth? Gallantry badge on their sleeves.

Hi Again Carol.......

Did a little quick digging and here is what I have found on the Famous Five.......

3rd Class Trooper C. Ryall, nothing on Gallantry but is late 1901 Court Martialled for Disobeying a Direct Order and reduced in rank from Corporal to Trooper.....

3rd Class Trooper W.H. Gibbons, For Gallantry at Bessiespan while covering withdrawal there when Trooper Faltenhine was wounded.....

3rd Class Trooper Harold Faltenhine (Note spelling of name), severly wounded covering withdrawal from Bessiespan August 11th 1901 where he remained behind so balance of troop could escape lead by Trooper Gibbons...... Later discharged as medically unfit for further service..... Forced to pay his own way home as sued British government for funds and won......

3rd Class Trooper Richard Douglas Muir, slightly wounded white successfully rescuing a fellow trooper at Rietport October 10th 1901......

2nd Class Trooper C. Young, unable to find anything right now......

Hope this is of some help......
