A few pictures from a lovely visit to the quiet and atmospheric battlefield of Isandlwana

The map near the car park at Isandlwana (despite it suggesting it is located at Rorke's Drift).

The map correctly shows that it was the Zulu reserves who attacked the force at Rorke's Drift. In the film, Zulu, the Zulus are depicted using the Martini Henry rifles taken from Isandlwana but this cannot have been the case as they were not engaged in the fighting and would not have had time to take the rifles from the battlefield.

The cairn showing where Younghusband was forced back from his initial location to the east of the defence on the lower slope of the hill.
