A quick search of the SA War Casualty Roll failed to identify this Dragoon Guard.

Does anyone know the name of this unfortunate man?

No question as to the boy's loyalty then, would be interested to know the subsequent events.

I've been searching information on my great uncle. John Tynan 1st (Royal) dragoons. He was killed at Kaffir Kraal on the 25th January 1902. The date of your query are similar. I have not found any other events recorded at that time. I still doubt this was the same incident because 4 others were injured on the same day. It would be sad to learn if this was his fate, as the war had only a short time more to run.

Thanks for your prompt reply. In some way I'm sad it wasn't an ancestor involved in such an unusual event. It would have made a good tale. I'll have to keep looking for another answer.
