Queen's South Africa 1899-1902, four clasps: Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Transvaal, South Africa 1901
Officially named to: 1851 PTE. J. WHEATCROFT, DERBY REGT. (Sherwood Foresters) who was taken prisoner of war at Roodeval or Rhenoster Camp on 7.6.1900. Discharge Papers indicate James Wheatcroft was from St. Mary's, Newark, Nottinghamshire and served until July 1901. His QSA was personally presented by King Edward VII on 29th July 1901.

For an excellent overview regarding one of Wheatcroft's NCOs, please read on this website. It's an excellent article/thread. angloboerwar.com/forum/prisoners-of-war/...noster-camp-07061900

Thanks for doing the post re Pte.J.Wheatcroft. Funny thing, as I occasionally search through Palmer's alphabetical casualty roll, Derby POWs of 07061900 are often noted. Yet QSAs to those unfortunates do not often appear. Thanks also for the kind words about my post re Sjt. Walters.
Regards
IL.
