Colonel-By,

I am not sure if this is relevant but the 50th Anniversary reunion (15 February 1950) that was held in Kimberley was attended by Colonel H F Lardner DSO MC VD.

A relative perhaps?

Many thanks for the tip, djb. I'm sure there is a family connection because the same(?) Capt. H.F. Lardner-Burke MC is listed in the Supplement to the London Gazette of 22 Aug. 1918, as follows:

Harris, Lt.·Col. H. S.
Lardner-Burke, Capt. H. F., M.C.
Ormiston, Capt. T.
Williams, Capt. G. W.
