This unit was composed of Boers who had decided to fight for the British and from others who joined the unit. 

QSAs to the Farmer's Guard are seldom seen and, when they do appear can often be renamed.  Their reported strength was 600 and commanding officer was Major E M Morris.

The Farmers' Guard was also known as the Burgher Police.
