Hi All,

A few year ago there was a fellow selling copies of the Boer War Medal Rolls on CD's. It is possible that he is a Medal Dealer in the UK. Does any member know if he still provides this service, and if so, who he is?

Cheers,

Jim

Hi Jim,

You can download PDFs of the medal rolls for free from the National Archives.

Several years ago, I too obtained quite a number of QSA unit medal rolls from an ebay seller called "poppyfields". These rolls were highly useful and I still have them  I am pretty sure that "poppyfields" is no longer selling rolls. However, David's suggestion is a much better alternative these days.
Good luck with your research!
IL.

Hi David & IL,

Thanks for the responses. It stands to reason that now they are free on line he wouldn't be rushed with orders. It is a great help, especially being on the other side of the world.
How long before the Attestation papers are available?

Thanks again,

Jim

Jim,

No one has digitised the attestation papers as yet. There are a few thousand on this site but this is only a drop in the ocean.

Hello JIm

The British Army WO97 (regulars) and WO96 (militia) which cover the Victorian era are on Findmypast. FmP also have WW1 series WO363 and WO364 which contain many ABW soldiers.

It is the WO126 attestation papers for units raised specially for the ABW that are waiting to be digitised, and to which David refers. Australia, NZ and Canada have digitised lots of service papers.

Regards
