Mark,

That's a great picture is a very historic location.

Not like the Scots though to line up willingly behind the English troops??

Best wishes

David, We let them get a bit of action seeing it was first battle and all. Actually, they were quite strange "English troops" - they turned into 2/24th Welshmen after lunch and fought Zulus while us Kilties sat down with the Z.A.R. STAATS ARTILLERIE and taught them how to drink whisky. When they fell down the Jocks captured "Oude Grietjie."

Cheers,

Mark

Mark,

Excellent Pic's. Which one of the Kilties is you?

Mark, looking at Pic "Talana C" do you know the name of the chap with the green cap on? He looks very familiar, might be a guy that I served with in the SAAF from 1979-1984.

Thanks, Adrian,

The bloke in the green cap's name is O'Farrell. He's in 5 Med Bn now as far as I know. His twin brother (ex Jocks) is in the Life Guards. Both of them would be a bit young but they have a notorious uncle of the same name and similar looks that would be about that time. I'm the Kilty holding the 303 in the Talana B pic.

Cheers,

Mark

Mark,

Thanks for the reply. Yes,the surname rings a huge bell. I shall have a look through all my photo's from the good old days.

Must say you look very smart in the Kilt.
