Hi all, I have already created a thread and found out some great information on this ancestor of mine thanks to some excellent membes of this site who helped me, however it was more of a general discussion thread and I thought I would create a follow-on one in the correct area of the forum. (original thread here > www.angloboerwar.com/forum/5-medals-and-...cestor-medal-mystery )

I am looking for the Queen's South Africa medal for -

6367 Pte.W.Wright - Rifle Brigade

The medal is missing from the set photographed above and I have his KSA and his QSA ribbon

I have been informed that he had the clasps:

Transvaal

Cape Colony

Orange Free State

I am desperate to find it, I really hope it is still out there and that I can reunite it with the rest of my ancestors medals one day

Thanks for your time

Josh White

Hello Josh,
Have a good look around both your close and distant family, the other medals and badges are all there, I noticed the original QSA ribbon in your photo, I think!
It seems far more likely in my opinion, that the QSA is around with a another family member, I feel sure that if you were going to pawn one medal, you would let other items go too!
Medals often got spit up, with each family member taking one!
If not then, the internet is the way to go, good luck Josh.
Frank

Hi Frank

Yes it is belived that it may be split up, though it is strange if that is the case because the medal ribbon is still present and none of the WW1 items/medals were split.

So i am confused, I thought that it may have made its way to market even if this was the case as it would now be many generations and im not sure if (like i have) they would have kept it anyway.

I just hope I find it some way

Thanks,
Josh

No. 6367 Wright married Florence Howlett in Sheffield in 1908

Elizabeth Hooper appears to have married a William Wright in 1828
