Having just written the history of the 1st Flintshire Engineer Volunteers, I am wishing to follow up the career of its Surgeon Ltn Colonel Robert A T O'Callaghan (1857 -1903) and his association with the privately sponsored Langham Field Hospital which was sent out to South Africa in 1900. I am seeking to write a full account as to the background behind the field hospital's sponsorship and its activities & personnel. O'Callaghan was appointed its Surgeon in Chief and one of the Doctors was the author Conan Doyle. If any forum members are able to shed further light on the Langham Field Hospital or indeed details of anyone serving with the unit , I would be pleased to know.

Dear Paul,

Many thanks for the photograph, it adds colour to the characters behind the Langham Hospital.

Attached I have added a summary of the information I have already found out on the Langham Field Hospital together with a profile of Surgeon Lt Colonel R O'Callaghan. I would love to find whether his medals are known to the forum.
