Hi Chaps,

I just had this lovely silver NH (Nesbitt's Horse) badge arrive, so wanted to share it with you all for interest and opinions.

A simple badge but lovely none the less.

Cheerio,

Roy

Collecting/wanted ABW insignia if anyone has some spares?

Hi Gents,

Thank you.

Mike it is certainly (unmarked) solid silver.

I'm leaning towards it being an officers slouch hat badge but of course the age old problem is we don't really know.

Cheerio,

Roy

Hello Mike,
Strictly speaking, it is, indeed, white metal, you certainly cannot claim them to be Sterling silver, notwithstanding, they were the norm for the original founder members of the regiment, the Cape silversmiths in King Williams Town, used a variety of metal, but, you do see the eighty percent content or there about, on a regular basis.
I am rather surprised you have not seen a single example before, it was a significant regiment within the Cape and performed well.
Regards Frank

Well, silver/part silver/or just sheet brass, I would not mind one in my little collection! Very nice, indeed.

IL.
