Pte Gordon John Mckay, Cycle Corps. On KTG roll and in Biggins as G MacKay and QSA named to Pte G Mackay but "The Siege Of Kimberley" confirms Pte G McKay, Kimberley Town Guard, Cycle Corps, A Company. Served in S.W. Africa in WW1 with the 7th Infantry.

Pte Herbert William Freislich, C Company, Kimberley Town Guard. COGHGSM (1 clasp Bechuanaland) QSA (DOK). There is variability in the spelling of "Freislich" . The KTG roll and the naming on the QSA have him as "Frieslich" but his own signature in his CP papers shows "Freislich" which would therefore seem to be correct. "The Siege Of Kimberley" shows "Frieslich", H W, Pickering's Redoubt, No. 1 Section, C Company. The medals are illustrated in David's book page 506.

Paul,

I have very much enjoyed the pictures you have posted - and I apologise for the length of time it takes to load the forum pages at the moment.

Hi David,
Glad you are enjoying them. I've got a few more to go yet but I am away for a bit so will post another day. I had noticed that the forum had slowed down but hopefully better soon.
As I said at the outset, I am trying to figure out how many jewelers were involved in the naming in Kimberley. The predominant style seems to be upright capitals with the curious triangles on the sides of the uprights. Does anyone know whether this font has a name?
