He will have been a very typical Atkin's of his time, I only glanced at his service papers, which remain extant in WO97 at Kew, available to you whilst there or on line, if you want to look at him beyond merely a soldier, you could search the census records in the RG series. until 1911, obviously, you need to know the last one hundred years, until the next census is released, so the 1939 register would be worth looking at too.
