Many thanks for your reply, yes I can now clearly see the title is made from white metal, just assumed they were brass.
Here was I thinking I knew a bit about Boer War badges too!
I have never seen one of these in white metal before, only in brass, oh well, we live and learn!
Great pictures of wonderful items too, Rutter looks like a very solid and unyielding veteran, really is a nice photo!

Good Morning Frank.....

Now you have me on a search..... The 5 badges that I have are all white metal and since they were hand made different qualities..... I have never heard of a brass one.....

Again since they were hand made maybe they just used whatever material that they could find....

Hello Mike,
Yes I'd agree with you there, I have always thought manufacture of these Boer War badges depended a lot on the metal available locally at the time, this was certainly true at List Brothers in Durban and I'm sure was the case with some of the other makers too.
I do have one of these in brass, I'll have to try and find it.
