Gary Neate suggests a rare award as the regiment was serving in China in 1900. Probably attached to the 3rd Bengal Cavalry.

QSA (789 Dhooly Bearer Khayoo. S. & T. Corps)

769 Dhooly Bearer Khayoo (Madras District-Bangalore): present at Belfast, Talana, Defence of Ladysmith & Laing's Nek. Last recorded at Philip Burman's in 2006 where it sold for £220. The same unit took part in the Relief of Chitral.

There is also, in the same auction, the silver medal to 2453 Sowar Hushyar Ali Khan, 2nd Bombay Lancers, clasps Transvaal & South Africa 1902. ( No lot number as yet) Last sold at QC Militaria for £375. Deep pockets may be required since a similar medal to the same Regiment hammered in the rooms of DNW in 2013 for £750. (Although Gary Neate sold one in 2015 for £395)

I have found the India Medal roll for Khayoo in the Indian Archives. He did not serve on the Relief of Chitral Force as previously reported. His I.G.S. bears the clasps Punjab Frontier 1897-98, Samana 1897 & Tirah 1897-98. Unfortunately the site bombed out before I could take copies and will not let me back into the file. I mention this because I was also able to find " 591 Dooly Bearer Nucca Goorumoorthy", currently held by a member here.

The reference is "Rwf., 1897-98, Medal Roll of Certain Follower of the Comst. Transport Department Madras"
