David

They should have used www.boerwarregister.com ;) - clasp confirmed on WO100/177p142

I had a quick look through the roll too thinking he may be missing/incorrect in the index but still no look.

Should the catalogue have listed his QSA as unconfirmed/awaiting confirmation perhaps?

Gentlemen,
You cannot and indeed should not be dependant on ancestry and their search index, it is always best to actually look at the relevant roll pages to find a man who cannot be found via the usual "search box" this has happened on very many occasions to me.

Precisely why I am building a better index.

Single clasp Belfasts to the 10th Hussars are surprisingly popular. Lockdales just sold another to 4111 Sgt W Beale for £180 (hammer). Beale died of disease 31 Mar 1901 in Newcastle. I cannot see an SA01 clasp on the rolls.

His Belfast is listed on WO100/116p115.

Goodday, Frank and other Forum members
I have a single clsp Belfast medal to 2198 Pte J Conolly KRRC
Can the team confirm which W/O to check the medal roll, and can anyone confirm that this was the only bar Conolly was entitled to??
Seems he was a very late entrant into the fray here in South Africa.
Any further info about this veteran and whether he was at the battle of Berg & Dal at Dalmanutha Farm / Station would be welcome.
I visited the site of the battle in June 2016 and one gets an airy feeling standing there surveying the terrain and reading the names of the fallen.
regards Evyn
