I would certainly think it adds to both the Man Behind the Medal and consequently the asking. Without being overly critical of DNW (with whom I have dealt to my satisfaction), it would not have been hard for a cataloguer to add such info to the item in question. It was simply a matter of IL reaching for Colin Walker's invaluable Siege Register and looking the man up. I always thought that was what references were for!
Best regards
IL.

QSA (1) DoM (W.G. BERNARD. MAFEKING TOWN GUARD.)

"Geoff" Bernard, as he was known, joined the Mafeking Town Guard after 12th October 1899. He had a lucky escape on 14th October when a Boer shell from their huge 94 pounder gun struck the roof of a building in Martin's Yard in Mafeking. There had been several serious casualties and at least two deaths on the same day due to the enemy shelling.

The dealer claims he was wounded on 14 October.

£2,550.

The QSA to Hubbard of the MTG which we saw a year ago as a disc has resurfaced, now with a suspender and copy DoM clasp.

That is a very weathered and well-worn (in every sense) medal.

Does the clasp look original?
