You don't see many of these coming up and according to the DNW site, their last one was 2011!

The full size group to Major A C McLachlan was featured on the first page of this thread. The group has appeared for sale twice at DNW, first in Dec 2009 where it sold for £3,400 and second in March 2014 where it achieved the same price. On neither occasion were the miniatures included but they have appeared on the Australian eBay site.

An interesting one, miniature medals. I haven't really had any interest in collecting them. I know people do collect just miniatures.

I wonder if anyone has an opinion on the value of this group on their own and if they were paired with the original group. There is no doubt that would be desirable, which goes without saying, but at what cost?

Like all collecting, never an easy answer!

Doug,

Not an easy answer. They do appear to be the medals for A C McLachlan but I suppose they are only attributable. If you're happy with attribution, the miniatiues will be more valuable. They do though seem to be good quality.

Are you tempted?

I have been told that they don't, as most collectors realise, actually add anything to a groups value, and a recipient may have had several groups made.

I think they would add to a group, obviously, but at nearly £175, it's a big ask?
