Yes indeed
I thought if any member who collects to this unit might wish to buy, if it still around, and if it was to the Shropshire's I would jump at it

We saw this QSA three years ago when it sold at DNW for £500.

QSA (1) (4734 Pte. A. George, Gordon Highrs.)

Provenance: Fred Rockwood Collection, Dix Noonan Webb, October 2014.

A. George served with the 2nd Battalion Gordon Highlanders in South Africa during the Boer War, and was wounded at Elandslaagte on 20 October 1899.

By way of contrast to the EF condition of Pte George's QSA, the less than pristine one shown below and as my avatar was awarded to Tpr H C Gorton of the Imperial Light Horse, who was also wounded at Elandslaagte. Gorton later died of wounds after the Battle of Wagon Hill during the Siege of Ladysmith, so he never saw his medal. I believe the medal was polished frequently by Gorton's grieving mother during the 20 years that she outlived him.

I still think it would be quite a hard task to ever find a more pleasing example of the medal and clasp, whatsoever it's condition.

It is my favourite, Frank, thanks in a large part to all the information you added to his file.
