He was educated at Cheltenham, and entered the Royal Dublin Fusiliers from the Gloucestershire Royal Engineer Volunteers, November 4th, 1899. He served with his battalion, in Natal, with the Natal Field Force, and had been wounded. His name is inscribed on the Eleanor Cross War Memorial at Cheltenham College.
