FinlayFrancis Henry John2nd LieutenantHe died of dysentery, at Vrede, December 11th, 1900. He was born January 1879, educated at Cheltenham, and entered the 5th Battalion Royal Dublin Fusiliers 1897, being promoted Captain in December 1899. He resigned this rank in order to join the regular army and proceed to South Africa. He was then granted a commission in the Leinster Regiment April 4th, 1900, and joined the first battalion, with which he served till his death. His name was inscribed on the Eleanor Cross War Memorial erected at Cheltenham College.
