BurmesterCharles ManselHe was educated at Dulwich College, and entered the service of the Norddcutscher Lloyd Steamship Company at Bremen in 1898. He resigned his position in 1899 and joined the Imperial Yeomanry, serving with them in the Boer War in 1900-1 (QSA and four clasps). In 1901 he acted as Clerk to the Secretary of the Orange River Colony Administration, and as Clerk to the Colonial Secretary in 1902; acted as Chief Clerk in 1904, and again in 1905Imperial Yeomanry
