Last Wednesday a send-off was given to Mr E. HILL, son of Mr Sam Hill, of Newington, who is one of the contingent. Mr Nobbs, M.P., and about 75 lady and gentlemen friends of the family were present. After the supper, Mr E. HILL was presented by Mr Nobbs, on behalf of the subscribers, with a handsome gold pendant, on one side of which were the initials of the recipient, and on the other a beautifully chased Maltese cross, bearing an inscription and the date. He was also presented by the ladies with a well-stocked dressing case.
