Elmarie - very many thanks for the photo of the gravestone of 2445 William St John Soane. Do you have a date for the photo? which has caught it just before further crumbling will make identification difficult. It is shame it cannot be preserved in this condition of semi-decay because it has become (in my opinion) a work of art. Presumably it will be replaced at some time with a modern version along the lines of the one you posted for 2507 Herbert St John Maynard. One last question - the name of the cemetery?

For Rhodri an advert for Soane & Sons - sadly undated.

31 Old Bond Street is now a fine art gallery where you can purchase limited edition prints of the artistic works of Bob Dylan & Billy Connolly for slightly less than a refurbished Schiedmayer grand piano would cost you.

They are a very talented family, I'm sure there would be photographs of the grave at the time of burial ?

Frank Soane's 1932 death was widely reported and the funeral well attended. A couple of local papers carried a photo of him but no graveside photos. He was buried in St Michael's Cemetery in Bath. Below is a photo of his grave posted on Find-A-Grave where his very short write-up mentions he was a pianoforte dealer but does not mention his prowess at rugby! He died of a heart attack aged 66. Another shot of the grave shows it is rather overgrown by what looks like berberis.
