Hi,
For those interested in my grandfathers medals, I have found amongst some papers two 'dress'(?) medals together with a receipt from the War Office, Medal Branch, dated 03.09.1926 and addressed to my grandfather who was living in London at the time. It is for ! Queens SA, four clasps, no ribbon. Also a letter from E (?) Andrew on War Office paper saying ' I have had the British War medal and the Queens South Africa medal with four clasps sent to you. There are, of course no clasps for the 14/18 war He goes on to say they have no trace of his name on the medal role for the Kings South Africa Medal but that it should be possible for him to be able to verify his claim.
I have no idea why my grandfather wished to claim his medals so long after the event, but he was an ill man and maybe just wanted a legacy to leave his family.

Thank you for that information, Timothy. That QSA will have a fixed suspender, so it will be easy to separate it from one issued after the Boer War.
Regards
Brett
