Hi Linneyl,

Thank you for that my friend. I'm very pleased with it indeed. I do understand that 'if' selling it, it would be inappropriate to describe as 'silver' without it being marked as such and 'white metal' is more appropriate in such circumstances. However as a collector I'm happy with the term silver as it tests as such - say as apposed to alloy.

Cheerio,

Roy

Hello Ian,
If you take a broad cross section of Cape raised SAMIF you encounter white metal/German silver quite often, it is simply because the Cape silversmiths used this material and had unlimited quantities of it, nothing unusual whatsoever.

Well, silver/part silver/or just sheet brass, I would not mind one in my little collection! Very nice, indeed.

IL.

Hi Frank,

Is that a Marshall's 'in silver' I see at the bottom?

Gosh if so, I would love to find one of those in silver. Mine (shown below) is in brass.

Cheerio,

Roy

Simply seeing a heap of Frank's Boer War badges is enough to demoralise bottom-feeding collectors!
