My CD of cavalry confirms bars OFS/TV/01/02 and notes "Embarked for England" and "transferred to reserve 27/9/02. 20H arrived in SA 12/01 and were brigaded with Col. Nixon's colm. Stirling's Our Regiments gives some indication of their service.
Regards
IL.

William Gorringe, an 18 year old labourer from Redhill Surrey joined the Army after serving in the Militia, the 3rd Royal Sussex Regiment, on the 8th of October 1894 and on the 14th of that month he arrived at Ballincollig to serve with the 10th Royal Hussars.
He was posted to the 20th Hussars on the 1st of December 1898, he did see considerable service, including his time in South Africa during the war, from the 13th of December 1901 to the 4th of September 1902, before his transfer to the Army Reserve on the 30th of November 1902, his medal and clasps are clearly verified in WO97.
