Would this be the same man as 600 Sedgwick Percy Harper of the Australian Commonwealth Horse ?

It would be a real coincidence if you had a Sedgwick Percy Harper in the VMR and ACH !!

Also, is that an extraordinary amount for a QSA ?

With regard to the QSA medal to Harper of the 2/VMR and 2/ACH, the connection is clearly shown on the medal rolls of the respective units. It was by no means unknown for men in the earlier OZ Colonial units to apply for another tour with The Australian Commonwealth Horse.
As far as the shown price is concerned, I would be reluctant to say that any current bidding on an OZ Colonial QSA with good engagement clasps is "extraordinary". Such medals come up quite seldom and from a rather small catchment anyway. And interest (i.e., bidding) can be intense.
By the way, I was not the high bidder on the Harper QSA.

IL.

Athonatos,

There is a certainly a premium being enjoyed by Australian QSAs, less so their collectors. This is supported by going through Noble Numismatics past auction data.

Clasps such as Rhodesia tend to boost QSAs in general and definitely have this effect here too.

I have a couple of QSA's to Aussies. There's just something special about the Colonial Forces QSA's.
