There are two men with this name on the Namaqualand TG roll. Both crossed through which indicated no QSA issued.

QSA (0) (32 J Thomas Namaqualand TG);
O'okiep Medal (J Thomas)

Description says:

Confirmed on Roll as having "engaged with enemy at O'okiep" - 537 men qualified for the Cape Copper Company medal making it the rarest of the "unofficial" medals awarded for the Boer War in South Africa. It was issued to all defenders regardless of race as many would not have been eligible for the QSA. As a consequence the medal pairs are much rarer
