Ministry of Defence, although I very much doubt if they could assist you, almost everything they held prior to 1920 has now been released, do you know when he actually left Great Britain for America?

Hi - thanks. I know he is in the US by 1913 (he marries my grandmother and is present on every subsequent census there until his death), but I haven't found the exact date of his arrival in the US. I have him in London as a boy on the 1891 census. I have the censuses for 1901 and 1911 for his family in England, but he is no longer listed/living at home. The question is where is he between 1892-1912. I know he is in England at some point in 1906 because he fathers a child who is born in 1907. I haven't found evidence that he married the child's mother, however. His abandonment of the woman and child was a source of conflict with the family still in England after his emigration, according to my father.
