In St Michael's Church, Cropthorne, Worcestershire. I didn't come across a headstone, or family stone, at St Michael's with his name on, although there are Tarplees buried there.

Very nice and rare to see a plaque so many years after the end of the war linking the death to the war. There must have been many other such deaths that are not commemorated like this.

Whatever it was that finally killed Tarplee, it was in abeyance for many months after the Siege - long enough for him to have remained on active service to qualify for the LN/OFS/Tvl/SA '01 clasps. Enteric was indeed the biggest killer at Ladysmith, but I wonder if its ill-effects would linger that long? We need a doctor in the house.
