I just had this lovely Bethune's Mounted Infantry badge arrive in the post from a good friend. Not sure if it's a shoulder title or hat badge.

Thank you for that. Yes I had wondered about the size as it's rather large at around 1⅞" x ¾". I was lucky with this one as a very good friend noted my interest in ABW badges and offered me it from his collection. Photo of the back attached for interest.

Thank you for your posts, Roy. I agree with IL about its size. Shown below are the BMI badges in my collection, which I have always seen as slouch hat and shoulder titles. The larger one is like yours with longer attachments to fit the hat, while the smaller one has short, thin and rounded loops.

Thank you for sharing your two splendid examples. Seen together like this the differences are quite clear, so a slouch hat badge it is..!

These cut sheet brass letter only badges are clearly simplistic in nature but do have a certain appeal all of their own, so I'm very pleased with my example. Now to keep looking for a matching shoulder title..!
