Could someone "in the know" please confirm that the crossed sword and baton badges in the attached photo were in respect of an officer of General's rank. Additionally, could someone please advise what the two items are that I have arrows pointing towards.

These and other ephemera came to me along with the medals to General Brabant's sons - I suspect these are the General's.

Correct. The crossed sword and baton was the badge of a brigadier-general at that time. He would have added one of the pips when he was promoted to major-general.

The two highlighted items are intriguing but I have no idea of their purpose or significance.
