These are my great-grandfather's medals from his service in the Boer War (1899-1903). His name was Wilfrid Alfred Leigh and he was in the 3rd Battalion Kings Royal Rifles.

You can be very proud of your great grand father; serving in the 3KRR, he took part in the successful attack and capture of Twin Peaks during the Spioenkop campaign, on 24 January 1900.
If you send me a private message, I can email you an account of the 3KRR's engagement.

Hello Leighboerwar

Many thanks for sharing your Great Grandfathers medals on the forum.

You may already have his attestation paper work? But in case you haven't, I have enclosed them for your records.

If I have the right chap? I believe he emigrated to the U.S.A.
It's possible that the bible inscription to Mabel may have been to his daughter. Please except my humble apologies if I have the wrong Wilfred Leigh.

Best wishes

Dave.
You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.
Best regards,
Dave

Thank you! You have the correct person. Mabel was his sister. He did emigrate to the US. He volunteered for the New Jersey National Guard and they sent him to Texas in what was the called the Punitive Exhibition.
