4665 Cpl. F.FAULKNER Boar War Medal 7 years 1 month ago #52347

I have recently found the above medal with 5 clasps in the original box. The records show KIA at Vryheid near Waterval 10/06/1901.
Is there any possibility that I could find his next of kin / living relative so that I could present the medal to them ?
I will send photographs etc. if required for confirmation of authenticity if required.

A,

That would be a very nice gesture.

As a casualty, his papers will have been destroyed so I am not sure how you will identify his nok using military records.

Well, Soldiers Effects on Ancestry show his first name to be "Fred(erick)", his father was Edward and he enlisted in 1898 in Broughton Lancashire, he was a sailor.

That is almost as much as you get on service papers, not a bad start for more research.
