Hello Frank and James,
I joined this ABW Forum today. I googled Thomas Craven Blundell as he is my great grandfather on my father's side and he popped up on your page. My great grand mother wrote her memoirs and of course he features quite prominently. By all accounts he was an adventurer who seemed to enjoy the military but was a bit low on discipline! A bit of a cad and scoundrel to boot. If you wish, I will summarise his exploits as far as was known by my grand mother, who incidentally was not a Boer lass, but an English one.

My great grandmother's memoirs are in hard copy only so I obviously cant re-type it all here as very little has to do with this topic and of the ABW. What I will do is read through them and post what is relevant to Thomas Blundell and his military activities. I will also include my personal comments. What I would like to know from this Forum is the whereabouts of his medals and how the present owner acquired them.

Tzaneen - ah there's a place I spent many a year, most of them pleasant :)

You will have to wait for the owner to come out of the woodwork if he/she so chooses. Medal collectors are understandably reticent to reveal themselves. This is because very often they become targeted by family members of the recipients medals they hold, despite the fact that they were acquired legally.

Rory
